Pushkov: The West intends to slow down China’s technological and military progress

Japan, following the US, announced the introduction of controls on the supply of semiconductors to other countries. A member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Law and State Building, Alexei Pushkov, said that the measure is seen as specifically directed against China.

“Japan, with its 10 percent global market share in this area, is imposing restrictions (i.e., a de facto ban on supplies to China) on exports of 23 types of semiconductors. The move reflects a unified policy with the US administration, which back in October passed draconian laws regarding the supply of semiconductors and related technology to China in order to slow its technological and military progress,” the senator wrote in his Telegram channel.

He noted that the government of the Netherlands, Europe’s leading manufacturer of the latest generation of semiconductors, intends to make the same decision.

According to Pushkov, there will be no retreat in this battle of the West for technological dominance.
