Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, in an address to the nation and parliament, has proposed stopping the fighting in Ukraine and declaring a truce.

“We need to stop now, before escalation starts. I will try to take the risk of suggesting the cessation of hostilities, <…> declare a truce without the right to move, regroup troops from both sides, without the right to move weapons, ammunition and military equipment,” the head of state said.

According to him, if the West tries to use the truce for its own purposes, Russia is obliged to use all the power of its military-industrial complex and the army to prevent the conflict escalation. Lukashenko stressed that the only way to stop the conflict is to negotiate without preconditions.
