Washington is consulting with allies on the possible imposition of sanctions against China in the event that Beijing provides military support to Russia. The report was reported by Reuters citing US officials and other sources.
These consultations are “at a preliminary stage” and are intended to seek the support of a number of states, “especially G7 countries”, to coordinate possible restrictions on China.
The agency did not specify what kind of restrictions might be imposed on China. It notes that Washington’s initiative has not yet led to broad agreement on any specific measures.
