About a thousand civilians are hiding in basements in Ugledar, while fierce fighting continues in the city. Denis Pushilin, the acting head of the DPR, said this on the air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
“In Ugledar itself there are, according to our estimates, about a thousand more civilians who are in basements. And our units, as soon as the opportunity arises, as soon as they liberate this or that house, try to take the civilians in the direction of Volnovakha, where it is at least relatively safe, to provide the necessary assistance,” he said.
Ugledar is an important logistical hub, the occupation of which will make it possible to stop the supply of the AFU grouping in the Mariinskiy direction, from which, in particular, shelling of the western part of Donetsk is taking place.
