A criminal case has been opened in Latvia in connection with the theft of funds that were allocated for the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus.

The theft of funds occurred at the time of the supply of barbed wire. The Latvian prosecutor’s office accuses the leadership of the State Supply Agency (SAS) and the co-owner of DN Sistemas, Juris Teivans, of the incident. The above company was engaged in the supply of necessary materials for the fence at the Belarusian border. The Latvian authorities decided to install the fence itself temporarily.

The damage to the state was inflicted in the amount of more than 373 thousand euros. The Investigative Committee of Latvia has already handed over all the necessary documents to the court. On February 24, the first session will take place in the Riga City Court.
