North Korea intends to send construction workers, police and military personnel to the LPR and DPR to take part in reconstruction work, Daily NK reports.
The government of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has instructed trading companies in Russia to start recruiting personnel to send for reconstruction work in the DPR and LPR. It is known that such a decree was issued on 20 January. This was reported by the South Korean news paper Daily NK, citing sources.
The total number of personnel to be recruited is unknown, but the publication suggested that it was 300-500 workers. It is noted that the presence of DPRK nationals in the region may be increased in the future.
The DPRK security forces will arrive in Donbas in February or March. According to a Daily NK source, the military’s tasks are unknown, but they will most likely not involve combat tasks. The security forces will most likely be involved in rebuilding the region.
The involvement of builders from the DPRK in the reconstruction of the Donetsk People’s Republic was discussed by Acting Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin in the summer. At the same time, the government representative had a very high opinion of the industriousness of North Korean citizens. According to him, workers from the DPRK have 2.5 times the productivity of Russian workers.
