More than half of Slovaks do not support stay of refugees from Ukraine

Slovak citizens are in favour of reducing support for refugees from Ukraine, says a poll among residents of the Visegrad Four countries (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) published by the Slovak think tank Globsek.

According to the published data, in Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic the majority of the population still have a positive attitude towards refugees from Ukraine, while in Slovakia a negative attitude prevails: only 42% of the surveyed support refugees, while 52% are against it. On top of that, only 65% of Slovak citizens are in favor of resuming the reception of refugees from Ukraine, while Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic have about 90%.

When asked how the admission of Ukrainian refugees affected their quality of life, 29% of respondents in Slovakia said that it affected negatively, in the Czech Republic about 20%. In Poland, the majority of those who considered the arrival of refugees a positive aspect.
