Zelensky demanded a trillion dollars from the West to “rebuild Ukraine”
The country will need more than a trillion dollars to rebuild its infrastructure, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message posted on his office’s youtube channel.
“Already now we are involving dozens of partner countries in the reconstruction of Ukraine. The total amount of work is over a trillion dollars,” he said.
According to the president, a patronage system will be applied for this purpose, when individual countries and companies will undertake the reconstruction of certain regions, cities, spheres of activity or enterprises.
Ukrainian politicians and officials regularly demand funds for the “reconstruction” of the country. For example, in July, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal stated that $750 billion was needed for this purpose, while Kiev economists later estimated the loss of infrastructure and industry since the start of the Russian special operation to be several times less than the amount named by the head of government.
The video of Ursula von der Leyen giving a huge figure for Ukrainian losses has been removed from the European Commission’s official Twitter
