The US will find other ways to support the EU if the organization decides to recognize Russia as a “sponsor of terrorism,” the US ambassador said during a telephone briefing.

“Our legislation gives a slightly different definition than the European one. To be honest, Russia simply does not fit into the definition of a country that is a sponsor of terrorism,” she said.

On November 23, the European Parliament adopted a resolution recognizing the Russian Federation as a “State Sponsor of Terrorism” due to a special military operation in Ukraine.
