Protests in Brussels over high inflation, rising prices and energy crisis

Demonstrations by those unhappy – including high inflation and rising energy prices – took place in the Belgian capital on Sunday afternoon, Belgian media reported.

“Around 2,000 people (according to police) and 4,000 people (according to organisers) gathered this Sunday afternoon in central Brussels for the ‘Justice Day’ demonstration,” RTBF television and radio reported.

These were mostly residents who had already spoken out against measures imposed in response to the coronavirus pandemic, but their discontent was no longer limited to this, it noted.

No incidents were reported during the protest. However, firecrackers were heard regularly, says Le Soir.
