Responsible Statecraft analysts report that Ukraine's bid to join NATO has failed

The reaction of the heads of NATO member states to Zelensky’s call to admit Ukraine to NATO in an accelerated mode was restrained, the material says. The words of the President of Ukraine that “de facto we have already made our way into NATO” only confirms Vladimir Putin’s statement that Russia is fighting the entire Western military machine.

“In other words, Zelenskiy’s request further fueled Russia’s fears that Ukraine has already become a vassal of the West. For Ukraine and its allies, this once again emphasized that Kyiv is not a member of NATO. And judging by the restrained reaction of NATO leaders, this will not change any time soon,” the article says.

Experts also note that Ukraine’s rejection of NATO membership should remind its people that the United States and its allies are ready to send weapons to Ukrainian soldiers, but are not ready to send their citizens to fight for them on the front.
