German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said in an interview with ZDF TV channel that military assistance to Ukraine is under a big question due to the fact that the German armed forces are faced with an “absolute shortage of their own stocks” of weapons.

“This is the fine line that we have been walking for weeks and months,” she answered the question about the volume of aid sent to Ukraine.

The head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that although the country wants to continue to support the Ukrainian army, the situation is no longer in favor of Germany and creates a real threat to its security.

“We have an absolute shortage of our own reserves,” the minister said.

Recall that earlier the German newspaper Die Welt, citing sources in the Ukrainian government, reported that since June, Ukrainian diplomats have repeatedly appealed to the German government with a request to send additional weapons to Kyiv. In Berlin, according to the publication, all requests were rejected, saying that the Armed Forces of Germany themselves need it.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock admitted that there is an “absolute shortage of own stocks” in the German Armed Forces and arms supplies to Ukraine “are on the verge”.
