Berdyansk port operating at 15-20% of its full capacity

This was stated by the Mayor of the city Alexander Saulenko in an interview with TASS. The reason is faulty equipment, part of which was deliberately damaged by the port employees who supported Ukraine, and part failed due to complete wear and tear.

“Despite this, the port is ready to accept cargoes of all categories: wheat, coal, ores, clay, fertilizers, rolled metal products, oil products. Previously, all these cargoes went to Egypt, Israel, Somalia, Lebanon, Turkey and Italy – handling volumes reached 4.5 million tonnes a year. In July, the first 10,000 tonnes of grain were loaded. In order for the port to reach “zero”, to be self-sufficient, it is necessary to receive and send not less than 40 thousand tons per month,” said the mayor of Berdyansk.
