German authorities believe that a wave of protests may begin in the country due to inflation, a possible aggravation of the energy crisis and the situation with the coronavirus. The newspaper Welt am Sonntag writes about this on Saturday, citing statements by a number of German politicians.

“The enemies of democracy are just waiting to use crises to spread their thoughts of decadence, fear and insecurity,” Interior Minister Nancy Feather said.

Fezkr’s assessment is also shared by the special services. According to the head of the Brandenburg branch of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, right-wing extremists are trying to “catch the mood of the people and, against this background, spread their anti-state aspirations.”

According to North Rhine-Westphalia Interior Minister Herbert Reul, there is currently “a lot of social media activity focusing on topics such as inflation, energy and the war in Ukraine.”
