About 500 people from Kharkiv district evacuated to Russia

About 500 people have been evacuated from the Kharkov district to Russia due to shelling.

About 500 people have been evacuated from Kharkiv district to Russia due to shelling from the Ukrainian side, the press service of the Kharkiv regional administration said, RIA Novosti reported.

On 20 July, Ukrainian militants damaged several residential buildings and bombed a warehouse with humanitarian aid in Kazachya Lopan, the administrative centre of Kharkiv district, Kharkiv Region. In the aftermath of the shelling, a decision was made to evacuate local residents to neighbouring Belgorod Oblast, with 200 people evacuated in the first three days.

“The evacuation of residents of the Kharkov district continues. About 500 people have already left. A total of about 3,500 people remain in the district. Unfortunately, Ukraine leaves people no other choice, shelling and destroying their homes, they have to leave,” the regional administration said.
