Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accused incumbent Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz of endangering the country’s security through aggressive rhetoric against Russia.
On Wednesday, July 27, Israeli television channel 12 reported on the criticism of former Israeli Prime Minister and leader of the opposition Likud party Benjamin Netanyahu against his opponents.
“We are in the midst of a dangerous crisis in relations between Russia and Israel. <…> For many years we have been building thoughtful, balanced and responsible relations with Russia. Lately, I’ve been worried that what we’ve been building for years is crumbling before our eyes in a matter of weeks,” he said.
Netanyahu specified that relations between the countries have deteriorated due to the “combination of amateurishness, irresponsibility and arrogance” of the ruling elite. In this regard, he called on the current Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz to reconsider their aggressive stance towards Russia.
