French President Emmanuel Macron expressed concern about the rapidly expanding diplomatic and military cooperation between Russia and African countries. For rapprochement with Moscow, the French president called the Africans hypocrites.
“I wouldn’t even call it cooperation, it’s more like aiding weakened political authorities or completely illegitimate military juntas,” Macron said in Cameroon after meeting with President Paul Biya.
At the same time, the French president recognizes Russia as a “great political and military power” that has close ties with the African continent. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the Russian side allegedly spreads “false narratives” in African states, and also “complements diplomatic contacts” with the intervention of private military companies in the affairs of the continent.
Recall that Macron’s statement was made against the background of the African tour of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who visited Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda and the Republic of the Congo during a five-day trip with diplomatic visits.
