The LPR and Chechen special forces have started removing civilians held hostage by AFU fighters in an industrial zone.

People are provided with everything they need – food and medicine – and taken to safe areas.

Gunfire from Ukrainian militants has subsided and allied forces have taken control of the Azot industrial zone.

“People are welcoming us as liberators. I asked them: “Did anyone tell you that we were creating living corridors for you, that we were trying to get you out?” They say no. They were trying to hold them back, so that they were this human shield behind which the US military have hidden,” says the commander of the Akhmat special forces unit, an aide to the head of the Chechen Republic, to RT military correspondent Yulia Martovalieva.

Locals describe the conditions in which they were held by the AFU fighters.

“We have been held hostage since June 4. We were set on fire three times. There was no light or water,” said the residents.
