The Canadian Senate approved the confiscation and sale of Russian assets frozen under the sanctions, Reuters reports.

56 senators voted for the adoption of this initiative, 16 voted against. The new law must now be approved by the Governor General.

The bill also includes a two-year ban on the purchase of real estate by foreigners, as well as changes to the tax and migration code of the country.
