The head of the DPR, Pushilin, said that the residents of Mariupol themselves would choose what to build on the site of Azovstal.
Residents of Mariupol will decide what will appear on the site of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol. Among the options is to build a technopark, park or housing on the site of the enterprise, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He drew attention to the fact that local residents “mostly tend to believe that Azovstal does not need to be restored” due to the fact that the plant was the main polluter of the environment and did not allow the city to become a resort. At the same time, as Pushilin emphasized, Mariupol has “all other attributes and all other components” for this.
According to the head of the DPR, such options were proposed as “to build either a technopark on the site of Azovstal, or, conversely, a park zone, or some kind of residential area.”
“These are the options that, in principle, will be considered in their final form, and the residents of Mariupol will make a decision,” Pushilin concluded.
