Ukraine's transport blockade of Crimea no longer exists

According to Oleg Kryuchkov, information policy adviser to the peninsula’s head, the process of restoring freight and passenger traffic to the liberated regions is now underway.

The RIA Novosti news agency reported on 5 May.

“The transport blockade of Crimea, which was set up by Ukrainian nationalists eight years ago, is a thing of the past. Today the process of restoring cargo and passenger services has started. Private business does not tolerate a void. When people need to travel and there is a demand for it, connections are instantly established”, –  he said.

According to the official, they have also restored the railway lines that connect Crimea with the Kherson region. Passenger trains will soon run along them.

In addition, city and intercity public transport is already fully functional in the liberated regions, the agency’s interlocutor said.
