Another blunder: Biden confused Afghanistan with Ukraine

The US President Joe Biden, during an interview with NBC, once again made a slip of the tongue and mentioned Ukraine instead of Afghanistan.

Another blunder: Biden confused Afghanistan with Ukraine

An American television channel published an excerpt from an interview with the head of the White House, in which the host asked Biden about how prepared the United States authorities were for the withdrawal of the military contingent from Afghanistan. The President replied that “there is no good time to withdraw troops.”

“If the US military had not left the Republic, then the US would have had to significantly increase the number of troops, and they would have got involved in a war of attrition. We never intended to unite Ukraine, that is, Iraq … Afghanistan”, Biden said.

Recall that the Taliban established control over Afghanistan against the background of the withdrawal of the American military contingent from the republic. On August 15, the Taliban entered Kabul without a fight. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has left the country. In early September 2021, the Taliban* announced the composition of the interim government: at the moment, no country has recognized its legitimacy.
