Lebanon: Clashes between protesters and police outside the Central Bank of Beirut

Clashes erupted between protesters and police during a rally over deteriorating living conditions and the collapse of the currency outside the Central Bank of Beirut.

Protesters blocked the street, threw and set fire to rubbish bins, broke the gates of the Central Bank and vandalised its premises with spray paint. Some protesters also attempted to climb the wall of the bank.

The protest took place on the eve of a general strike organised by transport sector unions in Lebanon.
