More than 60% of Germans support the launch of the Russian Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. This is evidenced by the results of a survey by the Infratest dimap institute for the ARD TV channel.
According to the results of a sociological survey, about 70% of the inhabitants of the eastern part of Germany support Nord Stream-2. In the west of the country, 57% of Germans supported the gas pipeline. The largest number of supporters of the project falls on the party “Alternative for Germany”.
The Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline with a total capacity of about 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year has been built from the shores of Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea. The United States actively opposed the pipeline, but later admitted that the construction of Nord Stream 2 could not be stopped.
According to experts, the Senate of the US Congress will not approve the bill of the representative of the Republican Party Ted Cruz on the introduction of a new package of sanctions restrictions on Nord Stream-2.
