Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN: Western countries are profiting from the migration crisis

Baltic States and Poland use the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border as a tool. They extort money from the EU, citing the problems with refugees on the border. Thus, the Baltic States and the Poles are actively profiting from the migration crisis. This was stated by Belarus permanent representative to the UN Valentin Rybakov to RIA Novosti

Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN: Western countries are profiting from the migration crisis

The concerned countries only get their own price in the eyes of Brussels at the expense of accusations against Belarus.

“Poland and Lithuania use the situation around migrants in their own interests, simply as a pretext for extracting more money from the EU and justifying their anti-migrant policies and numerous violations of their international obligations”, –  Rybakov says.

Earlier, members of the UN Security Council expressed confidence that Minsk is deliberately and artificially creating tension on the Polish-Belarusian border.

“We believe that it is the Western countries that “instrumentalized” this very migration, because they destroyed the statehood, the economy, the infrastructure in certain countries, the way of life there. It is Western countries that should bear full responsibility for people who are now fleeing en masse from states that have been destroyed by Western countries”, –  the politician added.

Rybakov also points out that migrants do not flee from Belarus, but only try to reach Europe through the territory of the republic and its eastern border.
