Kiev will purchase medical oxygen from Poland. This decision was made by the Ukrainian authorities after the two largest factories that had produced it earlier stopped in the country.

Ukraine came up with the idea of buying oxygen for COVID patients in Poland

This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko, RIA Novosti reports. Businesses were stopped for routine maintenance during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Yes, given the fact that he is in the west of Ukraine, they contacted Poland – this is faster than bringing oxygen from Donetsk, Luhansk or Zaporozhye regions,” he said.

The situation with morbidity in Kiev was commented on by the deputy of the capital city council from the “Opposition Platform – For Life” Alexander Popov and called it critical. The government was unable to provide patients with normal oxygen producers.

Lyashko makes excuses that the authorities issued all the permits in one go and Poland has already started delivering oxygen. Several cars have already arrived in Ukraine and delivered oxygen to hospitals.

However, the country does not agree with the optimistic view of the minister. So, the head of the Chernihiv city hospital No. 2 Vladislav Kukhara said that there was only a few hours of oxygen left. The supplier promises to deliver it only tomorrow, but he can’t even say at what time he will do it. And even minutes play a role in saving lives.

The shutdown of two oxygen production facilities became known on Friday, October 22. The chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine, Igor Kuzin, announced the termination of work and announced the search for alternative sources. Why at first it was impossible to make sure that oxygen would continue to flow, and only later to begin routine maintenance, he did not specify.
