Moldova signed a contract for the supply of one million cubic meters of gas with Poland

“PGNiG Supply & Trading in cooperation with the American-Ukrainian group ERU has won a tender for the supply of natural gas to Moldova. This will be the first gas supply to this country from a non-Russian source”, the Polish company said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova, the meeting with the head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller will take place on October 27. Spinu added that the negotiations are difficult, but Chisinau “intends to sign a long-term contract.” The politician noted that Moldova is also considering the possibility of purchasing from other suppliers during the negotiations.

As previously reported, negotiations between the Moldovan authorities and Gazprom took place on October 21-22, but did not bring any results. If a new contract is not signed, the company will stop supplying fuel from December 1. The main reason for the disagreement between the parties was the unwillingness of Chisinau to pay the debt for the previously supplied gas in the amount of about $700 million.

On October 22, Moldova introduced a state of emergency due to an acute gas shortage in the republic. In Chisinau, they were forced to extinguish the Eternal Flame at the memorial of glory to Soviet soldiers
