Exercises of the CSTO countries started in Tajikistan

The operational-strategic exercises of the collective forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) “Combat Brotherhood – 2021” have begun in Tajikistan, the joint press center of the exercise said.

It is planned that more than four thousand people and 500 pieces of equipment will take part in the exercises. Within the framework of “Combat Brotherhood – 2021”, three exercises will be held on the territory of Tajikistan: “Echelon-2021”, “Search-2021” and “Interaction-2021”.

“We pay special attention to the Central Asian region. The main source of instability is the situation in and around Afghanistan. That is why, for the first time, within the framework of joint training, we are conducting three exercises simultaneously”, said Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff.

In the course of the maneuvers, airborne assault, motorized rifle and artillery units, special-purpose groups will work out the preparation and conduct of a joint operation to localize a border armed conflict.

The CSTO is an international security organization. It includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The collective security system presupposes repelling security threats and protecting the sovereignty of member states without interfering in their internal affairs.
