Ukraine will insist on maintaining gas transit through its territory for 15 years after the launch of Nord Stream-2, said Prime Minister Denis Shmygal.

The head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, said that the company could begin deliveries to the European market via the pipeline already this heating season and export about 5.6 billion cubic meters through it by the end of the year.

According to Shmygal, now the government does not expect to stop pumping through Ukraine, because Nord Stream 2 is under sanctions, and the authorities hope that the United States will continue them.

“We are convinced that we are reckoned with when they talk about the launch and certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline,” the prime minister said.

Also in Kiev, they said that they would strive to maintain transit in the future, but they are preparing for different scenarios of the development of events.
