Two Pakistani soldiers killed in Afghanistan border area

TASS reports that on Wednesday, Dawn newspaper quoting Pakistan’s Defence Ministry reported that two Pakistani Army soldiers were killed in the North Waziristan district bordering Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists exploded. The IED went off during a clearance operation in the Dossali area.

Security forces conducted a counter-terrorism operation there and killed a militant from a separatist group active in the region. Their attacks have intensified recently against the backdrop of the Taliban’s seizure of power in neighbouring Afghanistan.

Last week, a suicide attack near a checkpoint in Quetta killed four Pakistani border troops and injured 18. In August, three Pakistani security forces personnel were killed and a similar number were injured when their vehicle was hit by a landmine in the Ziarat district of northern Balochistan.
