Taliban militants* seized several areas in Panjshir and four checkpoints, a spokesman for the movement, Zabiullah Mujahid, told RIA Novosti.
According to him, more than 30 fighters of the resistance forces were killed, among them three commanders.
Panjshir remains the only province outside of Taliban control, located in the highlands northeast of Kabul.
After the failure of negotiations with the leader of the Afghan Resistance Front, Ahmad Massoud, the Taliban launched a military operation. The losses were reported by both sides.
