The US State Department blames Minsk for the deterioration of relations between Belarus and the United States. This was announced on August 11 at a briefing by the representative of the Foreign Ministry Ned Price.
“It should be recalled that the Belarusian authorities are responsible for the deterioration of relations with the United States in view of the repressions against their own people, the targets of which were civil society, the media, students, lawyers. We gave an answer to these events – the White House announced the introduction of the most serious sanctions against the Lukashenka regime”, he said.
At the same time, he expressed regret at the current level of relations between the United States and Belarus.

“We are disappointed with the level at which our relations with Belarus are now, but we will continue to work with our allies and partners to advance our common interests. The US administration, the staff of the embassy in Minsk will continue to support the democratic aspirations of the Belarusian people”.
