“The US, together with allies and partners, will continue to hold Lukashenko accountable for his actions, including the imposition of sanctions”, –  Sullivan said.

The White House confirmed that the administration of US President Joe Biden intends to demand a detailed investigation of the Ryanair incident, dialogue with the Belarusian opposition and new presidential elections.

Recall that presidential elections were held in summer 2020 in Belarus, which was won by a wide margin by the current head of state, Alexander Lukashenko. The runner-up, Svetlana Tihanovskaya, did not recognize the results of the voting and declared herself “the winner of the elections”.
