The Ukrainian president has called the project “a litmus test that shows what is a priority for certain countries”
According to TASS, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he intends to discuss the Nord Stream 2 project and security issues at a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which is scheduled for July 12.
“The issue of Nord Stream-2 is a global issue. What do I expect from the meeting with Angela Merkel? We will not separate the issues of Nord Stream-2″ and security. We are not selling Ukrainians and we are not selling the lives of our people”, – Zelensky said on Wednesday at a press conference during his visit to Vilnius.
He added that a future meeting with the German chancellor “is important in energy terms”. Linking the Nord Stream 2 issue with a security threat to Ukraine, Zelensky admitted that it was difficult to find a balance between security and economy. At the same time, he called the project “a litmus test that shows what is a priority for certain countries”, noting that for Ukraine, the issue of security is more important than the economy.
