We need a clear vision of what Ukraine can contribute to the Euro-Atlantic community and how it can get closer to the EU and NATO
Gitanas Nauseda said this at the opening of the International Conference on Reforms in Ukraine, which is taking place in Vilnius.
“Ukraine needs clear plans in order to move forward. And the international community expects assurances that a consistent reform process will continue. An ambitious agenda is what motivates people”, – said Nauseda.
He said that the strategic interest of the international community is for Ukraine to be democratic and successful.
“The new Ukrainian leaders have presented very ambitious goals, and despite the unexpected start of the coronavirus pandemic, and amid Russia’s continued aggression, Kiev is still showing a willingness to implement reforms.”
The Lithuanian president stressed that success in reforms could be achieved by introducing a well-functioning market economy, promoting Euro-Atlantic and European integration, and fighting corruption.
“One of the tasks is also to increase the confidence of Ukrainians in the judicial system, their confidence that the anti-corruption system is working properly.”
