"It doesn't work that way" - NATO responded to Zelensky's request for a specific list of reforms to join the alliance

This was said by NATO Special Representative of the Secretary General James Appathurai during a conference on reforms in Ukraine.

“It doesn’t work that way. There is no clear list of criteria after fulfilment of which an MAP or membership is granted – because these are political decisions, these are not purely technical criteria… I am not saying that there is no connection between reforms and a political decision – of course they are. But just meeting a list of conditions by itself is not enough”, – Appathurai said.

The special envoy added that not only Ukraine should be ready to join NATO, but the alliance should also be ready for expansion.

News Front earlier reported that Zelensky demanded a list of reforms for Ukraine’s transition to NATO integration.
