UN special envoy for Syria is going to visit Moscow soon

UN special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen expects to hold consultations in Moscow soon.

“I look forward to coming to Moscow [for consultations] soon”, – he said Friday in his address to the UN Security Council.

Pedersen called for a new international dialogue to resolve the situation in Syria.

“I believe we need a new constructive international dialogue on Syria to discuss concrete steps”, –  he said.

In addition to consultations in Moscow, Pedersen also intends to visit Rome, where he will take part in a ministerial meeting between Italy and the United States, and will also come to Nur-Sultan in early July, where he will hold consultations with Turkey and Iran during a meeting in the Astana format.
