US Senate to consider bill to revoke Iraq war permit

According to RIA FAN, according to the Associated Press, American senators intend to limit the powers of the US President in matters of conducting armed conflicts.

As noted, the leader of the Democrats in the US Senate Chuck Schumer said that he was preparing to submit for consideration a bill on the abolition of the permission to use military force in Iraq. It was adopted back in 2002 and allowed former US President Donald Trump to authorize an attack on Iranian General Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

“The White House supported this initiative, stressing that the cancellation of this permission will not affect the current US military operations. At the same time, the Biden administration added that the American leader is ready to resign the necessary powers to ensure the protection of citizens from terrorist threats”, – the statement said.
