A collision between two trains on Monday in southern Pakistan has killed more than 30 people, The Associated Press reported, citing local police and rescue teams

The passenger trains collided in the morning in Sindh province. According to preliminary reports, the tragedy occurred when one express train collided with another train that derailed. According to eyewitnesses to the accident, most of the passengers were sleeping when the trains collided.

“The death toll may increase drastically as there are still warped carriages which rescuers have not been able to reach even though several hours have passed since the accident in Gotkah district”, –  Senior Superintendent of Police Umar Tufail told Samaa TV.

At least 32 people were killed and 64 others were injured with varying degrees of severity, according to rescuers. Police said as many as 25 people were trapped in the blocked wagons, which are yet to be accessed.
