US to hand Ukraine three more decommissioned Island boats by the end of the year

As reported by the Left Bank, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Andrei Taran boasted the news that the United States would transfer to Ukraine by the end of the year three more boats of the Island type, previously in service with the U.S. Coast Guard. Having served their useful life, the boats were decommissioned and instead of expensive disposal they were handed over to Ukraine.

“Two of them have already been named P192 Sumy and P193 Fastov and are already being fitted with weapons. These boats are scheduled to be delivered to Ukraine during the third quarter of this year. The third P194 boat will be delivered to Odessa in late 2021”, –  the report says.

The first two Island-type boats, P190 Slavyansk and P191 Starobelsk, joined the Ukrainian Navy in November 2019.
