Rallies against the government of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and his policies amid a coronavirus pandemic have taken place almost all over the country.
In particular, protesters called for the procurement of vaccines against COVID-19, for emergency relief for the population, and for the rights of citizens to decent education and health care. Calls for the impeachment of the president were also heard.
On the whole, the demonstrations were peaceful. However, in the city of Recife, military police used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse the protesters.
