Poland’s ruling party deputy press secretary Radoslaw Fogiel said Warsaw “painfully” perceived Washington’s decision to waive sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline
“We are pained by the US president’s decisions on Nord Stream 2″, – because we believe that the question of maintaining sanctions would have been appropriate here. We have consistently stood by the position that the construction of this pipeline is giving Russia a weapon in its hands – a gas weapon, an energy weapon”, – Fogiel said on Polish Radio.
Poland commented on U.S. rejection of sanctions against Nord Stream 2
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline involves the construction of two pipeline segments with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic metres of gas a year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The U.S. opposes the construction of the Russian pipeline because it wants to supply Europe with its own liquefied gas.
