The Israeli government has been accused of pursuing apartheid policies and persecuting Palestinians, which amounts to crimes against humanity
On Tuesday, April 27, the US non-governmental organisation Human Rights Watch published a report designed to analyse whether Israel’s “specific actions and policies” constitute apartheid as defined in international law.
The document points to, among other things, Israeli restrictions on the movement of Palestinians and the seizure of Palestinian-owned land for Jewish settlements.
“Throughout Israel, Israeli authorities have pursued the intention of maintaining dominance over Palestinians by exercising control over land and demography for the benefit of Israeli Jews”, – the report said. – “On this basis, the report concludes that Israeli officials committed crimes against humanity in the form of apartheid and persecution.”
The Israeli Foreign Ministry rejected the allegations as “absurd and false”, accusing HRW of an “anti-Israel agenda”.US intelligence creates centre to combat foreign interference
