China warns US against crossing the lines

China has warned the US against crossing “red lines” after the US ambassador made his first visit to Taiwan in 42 years

US Ambassador John Hennessy-Niland was part of the Palauan delegation led by that nation’s President Surangela Whipps Jr.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry responded to the visit by recalling the One China principle, which “is a universally accepted norm of international relations”.

“China strongly opposes any form of official interaction between the US and Taiwan, lest it damage both Sino-US relations and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait”, –  said a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman.
