According to TASS, citing the press service of the Serbian Interior Ministry, it took Serbian law enforcement officers less than a day to detain a vandal who broke off a cross on a monument in the center of Belgrade. It turned out to be a 28-year-old migrant from Afghanistan.
“The incident took place on Saturday afternoon. The object of the vandal’s attack was a monument to the founder of the Serbian state, Stefan Neman, by the Russian sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov, recently erected in one of the central squares of the city”, – the statement says.
According to Serbian media reports, a migrant from Afghanistan walked around the monument for a long time, then broke off a cross from it and, after passers-by rushed to him, fled the scene of the crime.
