Two police officers have been injured during a protest against epidemiological restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic in Warsaw

This was announced by Warsaw police spokesman Sylwester Marciak.

“Police officers were attacked. A female police officer was hit by the aggressor and a male police officer was hit on the head with a stone. Both of them ended up in the hospital”, –  Marciak said.

He said the policemen responded by “acting forcefully, using means of direct coercion in the form of physical force, rubber sticks, gas canisters and stun grenades”.

Several people, including wanted persons, were detained during the clashes, Marciak said.

“Several people have also been detained for drug possession, violation of bodily integrity and insulting officials”, –  the police spokesman added.
