Zarif sends letter to Borrell criticising EU and US actions on nuclear deal

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has sent a letter to EU diplomatic chief Josep Borrell criticizing the actions of European countries and the United States on the nuclear deal. This was reported by ISNA news agency on Saturday.

Zarif accused the “troika” (France, Germany and the UK) and the US of non-compliance with the terms of the nuclear deal, the report said. He also pointed out that if the other parties to the agreement fulfill their obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran will return to fulfilling all conditions of the nuclear deal.

On 26 February, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that if Tehran fully meets its commitments under the JCPOA, the US will do the same and then seek to strengthen the parameters of the deal. For his part, Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabia stressed on March 2 that Tehran needed to make sure Washington would lift sanctions to begin a dialogue with the US. On 5 March, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif promised that the country would soon present an action plan on the nuclear deal through diplomatic channels.
