Zelensky is trying to beg the EU for new anti-Russian sanctions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that international partners should take more effective steps to “return” the Crimea peninsula to Ukraine

“I am grateful for the European Union’s consistent policy of not recognising the illegal annexation of Crimea. At the same time, more effective international steps are needed. The issue of Crimea should be put on the international agenda. I proposed to introduce sanctions against those who carry out lawlessness on the peninsula”, –  Zelensky said at a joint press conference with the president of the European Council, Charles Michel.

The Ukrainian president also invited Michel to take part in the “Crimean platform” which, in his opinion, will somehow “fabulously” help to “return” the Crimean peninsula under Kiev’s jurisdiction.
