US and Canada join forces to confront China – Biden

“This includes coordinating our approaches to better compete with China and better protect our values”, –  US President Joe Biden said after a virtual meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

Earlier, on 25 January, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the new US administration would consider whether to maintain import duties on goods from China imposed by Trump.

In addition, the US is threatening China with sanctions for harassing Uighurs and other Muslim groups, human rights abuses, including in Tibet, and condemning the Hong Kong National Security Protection Act, which Washington says is aimed at eliminating its high autonomy
