US renews Middle East policy – Arab analyst explains why

American elites are forced to cope with the inevitable consequences of a failed policy in the Middle East. Nevertheless, Washington does not intend to admit defeat.

As previously reported by News Front, the Donald Trump administration, through the Kurdish militants loyal to Washington, controlled oil fields in Syria. This allowed the United States to steal the resources of the Arab republic with impunity for many years. The Democrats seem determined to abandon this practice.

US Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby has already said that the US armed forces in Syria will no longer be responsible for “protecting” Syrian oil. Instead, the Pentagon will focus on fighting the Islamic State* terrorist organization.

The case cannot be called an isolated one, the famous Arab writer and analyst Abdul Bari Atvan noted. Thus, the American Democratic administration shows disapproval of Trump’s decision to recognize Israel’s control over the Golan Heights. Washington’s approach to partnership with Saudi Arabia, where the United States is trying to achieve the elimination of the crown prince, is radically changing.

“All of this is a demonstration that the team of the new US President Joe Biden is choosing to abandon much of the Middle East policy of the former leader Donald Trump”, – explains Atvan.

According to him, one should not prematurely praise Biden for his ostentatious nobility – a large-scale revision of the Middle East policy is associated with its failure and the growing threats to the United States.
